Awards

2019, ICA Kyoon Hur Dissertation Award, Mass Communication Division, International Communication Association. The award is designed to acknowledge the best in doctoral research and dissertation writing in mass communication.

2018, Award of Excellence, Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. The national award is granted to the the best Austrian dissertations of the academic year.

2018, Sowi-Doc.Award, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Vienna. The award is granted to the best dissertations from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the academic year.

2017, Top Three Student Paper Award from the Communication Theory and Methodology Division. This award is granted to the three best student papers presented at the annual conference of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), August 9-12, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

2009, Best Bachelor Thesis Award from the Department of Communication Studies (University of Salzburg). The annual award recognizes the best Bachelor Thesis in Communication Science.

Grants and Scholarships

2019-2022, FWO Junior postdoctoral fellowship, for the project: “Digitizing Joy: The Role of Smartphone Use in Capitalizing Positive Life Events and Adolescents’ Psychological Wellbeing.”

(2/2019), (Marie-Sklodowska Curie Fellowship); The project proposal received a favorable evaluation (91%) and was awarded the Seal of Excellence, but was not sponsored due to budgetary limits.

2018, Fritz-Karmasin-Förderpreis, Austrian Society of Communication (ÖGK); Research grant for innovative empirical media and communication science research, for the project: “Perfect picture, imperfect life? The relationship between personalized Instagram use and subjective life satisfaction – A linkage analysis.” In collaboration with Brigitte Naderer and Christina Peter.

2018, Research grant for the project “Perception and effects of disclaimer labels on fashion images on body image.” the Vienna Municipal Department of Women’s Affairs (MA 57) and Women’s Health (MA 24). In collaboration with Brigitte Naderer and Christina Peter.

2018, Grant for the project “Top slicing and contestable funding in the broadcast media market”. Funded by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, ORF. In collaboration with Raffael Heiss.

2018, Travel grant, “International Communication” by the Austrian Research Association to visit an international conference in Bath (UK).

2017, Travel grant, “Short-term grant abroad” by the University of Vienna, Austria. The grant allowed me to visit SMCR, KU Leuven (Belgium).

2015, Competitive Research Award of the Department of Communication (University of Vienna). The award aims to support early career researchers to pursue, hone, and enhance their own line of research.

2008, Fellowship “Franz Josef Martin Plantz und Paula Zyber Stiftung” administered by the University of Salzburg. The fellowship enables students to study French language abroad at the University Sorbonne Nouvelle
